What is the village like?

It is a typical, rural French village with a small bistro and grocer, a Mairie with a school attached, a commercial baker installed in a little wooden hut and the Carles Roquefort dairy. Most of the inhabitants are farmers or farm workers. It is a picturesque village where the houses are built of stone and the square is dominated by a 15th century tower of the Knights Hospitalier. You will go to the village every day for a writing exercise. During the summer months, we shall all go to the neighbouring village of Coupiac for the Monday night and Wednesday morning markets.

Are any other sightseeing excursions on offer?

Not officially. Unofficially though, people who rent cars are often happy to take others with them and if there is a small number of participants, we do try and take you in the afternoon to see a bit of the surrounding countryside and villages.
